How the Ten Frame Counting Book Works
On each page, students count the dots in the ten frame, then find the matching piece and attach it with velcro. Start by pointing and counting each box together out loud. Once that’s solid, let the student count on their own and pick the piece from a field of two or three choices.
I like to read the same adapted book a few days in a row. The repetition is the point. By day three, students who needed my hand on theirs are often counting the frame and grabbing the right piece without me.
