About Me
Greetings, lovely people! Allow me to introduce myself – I am Jenn, the proud owner and brilliant author of Teach Love Autism. With 17 years of teaching experience under my belt, I have taught every grade from Pre-K to 12th, in various subject areas (preschool, elementary, and even middle and high school alternative education), to a wide range of students, including those with disabilities.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2007. After four years in general education classrooms, I felt a need to better support my students, so I pursued a master’s in Special Education, completing it in 2013. My first special education role was with grades 6-12 in an alternative education setting for disruptive youth, followed by several years in a self-contained special education classroom. In 2021, I added an administrative certification, expanding my leadership potential. My journey continued with Wilson Instructor certification in 2022, deepening my understanding of reading instruction and the Science of Reading for students with disabilities.
The majority of my teaching career was spent in a self-contained autistic support classroom and after 10 years I moved into a Special Education Instructional Coaching role. This is where I have spent the last 3 years of my career supporting 60+ teachers across multiple special education programs (Autistic Support, Life Skills Support, and Emotional Support) at a cyber charter school in PA.
While working with children is my passion, my love for supporting those with autism has been the cherry on top. My students are my everyday inspiration and the driving force behind the creation of Teach Love Autism – a website, blog, and store that offers an array of resources to assist teachers, professionals, and families in helping their students become more independent and successful in the future.
As a teacher, I firmly believe that the two crucial factors for a thriving classroom are organization and independence. With both these elements in place, students learn, staff are engaged, and overall growth is achieved. And let’s be real – that’s what we all want, right?
Now, let me give you a peek into my life beyond the classroom. My family means the world to me, and I’m blessed to have a supportive husband and two beautiful daughters who love assisting me in building, creating and preparing materials and content for this little business. We enjoy vacations together, family movie nights, and snuggling with our adorable pup. Oh, and did I mention that I also have a passion for coaching? Clearly, my love for working with kids knows no bounds.
In conclusion, my love for teaching, children, and supporting those with autism is my driving force. It’s my privilege to share my experience and resources with other professionals and families through Teach Love Autism. So, let’s join hands and make the world a better place, one child at a time!after
