Description
MORE is one of my favorite core words to start with, because students can use it all day long to keep the good stuff coming. These Core Vocabulary Worksheets MORE pages give students hands-on practice with the word through tracing, coloring, matching, sorting, and cut and paste activities.
What’s Included in the Core Vocabulary Worksheets MORE Set
- Printable worksheets: a classic way to practice reading and writing the word MORE.
- Dry erase pages: laminate them or slide them into page protectors, and students can practice again and again.
- Cut and paste activities: students match, sort, and glue the word and symbol, which builds fine motor skills along with vocabulary.
- Sight word practice: MORE is a high frequency word, so these pages double as reading practice.
Ways to Use the Core Vocabulary Worksheets MORE
These pages are differentiated, so you can match the activity to the student. Some students will trace and color, some will cut and sort, and some will read and write the word on their own.
- Follow up your core word of the week lesson in small group
- Independent work or work tasks once students know the routine
- Morning work or early finisher practice
- Homework, so families can see and use the word at home
I always pair worksheet time with modeling. Keep a core board on the table and point to MORE as students work. That way the paper practice and the communication practice happen together.
Teaching the Core Word MORE Beyond the Worksheets
Worksheets build familiarity, but students learn to use MORE when they see it modeled in real moments. A few places to model it every day:
- Snack time: hand out a few crackers at a time and wait for MORE before you give the next ones.
- Bubbles, music, and tickles: pause the fun and model MORE before you start again.
- Building and art: give out blocks or stickers a few at a time so there is a reason to ask.
- Read-alouds: ask for MORE pages or MORE books when a story ends.
Who the Core Vocabulary Worksheets MORE Are For
These work for early learners and for older students who are still building core vocabulary. They’re a great fit for special education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals supporting students who use AAC, and for students who need extra sight word practice.
